President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her former high school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
