The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I want up in that spot besides him with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
