Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to save his bacon with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs cannot reel in a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
